Because the Armé Des Enfants social-art-experiment is inclusive in its nature, its very meaning is altered everytime someone contributes something new. I love to watch this project grow and morph into whatever it is supposed to become, however... just for the sake of novelty and history, here is the little book that started it all.

I wrote some rhymes back in 2004 and wanted to have an illustration for each one. All of the rhymes had a common thread so I wanted to mirror that thread in the illustrations by using an icon. That was the birth of the first bebe...a 12 foot long doll named 'Big Baby'.

- Bebe Daddy

Just click on the image to turn the pages.

Douglas Dingleberry from Sitka, Alaska took his bebe to Bangkok, Thailand. Here are a few pics from the first batch.

And then I recieved this email:

"I have some good news and some bad regarding bebe, the good news is that we took him to a 5 day psychedelik newyear festival and had good fun watching people interact/paint on/dance/impose their weirdness on him/her/it. The bad news is that...he somehow went missing in the madness of the dancefloor on the last night. This is why i don't have real children, I'd probably get high and lose them somewhere. I can probably relocate bebe, though he'll never be the same after being around 2000 tripping weirdos for 5 days. It's a very interesting social experiment to just put him somewhere and watch how people react."

Welcome to Wahoo, Nebraska. They were just tipsy enough to have a fun girls night out doing bebe-capers - but not quite sober enough to fill more than its legs (with what I'm guessing were mittens, panties and handtowels). Anyway, thanks for the snapshots, Christine Bolles...I can almost smell the pizza through the sneeze-guard.

Hello everybody!

It's been about a year and a half now since the 'Armé Des Enfants' social-art-experiment went public. It's been fascinating for me to watch this thing unfold. So far I've stayed true to my self-imposed duties as global bebe-conductor...keeping it simple and adhering to the prime directive.

First, if you are new here, please check out the 'back story'.
http://armedesenfants.com/backstory.html

Of course there is a Facebook site, and of course we can be friends! Whenever I get a new batch of photos, I post them here first.
www.facebook.com/ArmeDesEnfants

The project has its own google map where I keep track of the motion and location of each bebe around the planet.
http://armedesenfants.com/map.html

If you are from the press, or would like to adopt a bebe, please contact me at:
